Lander United Methodist Church began serving a free, weekly, community meal on Friday, September 22, 2017. The meal is intended for those ‘in need’ within our community and will be served every Friday from 5:30-6:30 pm in the church’s parking lot. Volunteers will shop for, cook, serve, visit with guests, and clean-up. Since its inception in October of 2016, the Good Sam Emergency food pantry has handed out over 4,500 bags of groceries. The pantry is supplied through food donations made by church and community members, financial donations, and through a very generous partnership with Michelle Motherway and Mr. D’s.
The pantry is not meant to be a grocery store. Rather, it is an emergency food pantry for when times are tough and income didn't stretch far enough to cover groceries for the month.
Monday: 8:30-11:30 a.m.
Wednesday: 8:30-11:30 a.m.
Thursday: 8:30-11:30 a.m.
Friday: 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
How often can I visit the pantry? Individuals may visit the pantry a maximum of two (2) times during a calendar month. This is tracked in the church office.
How many bags of food can I take? Individuals may take a maximum of five (5) bags of food at each visit. We ask that you take what you will use and use what you take.
How do I access the pantry? To access the pantry, individuals must register in the church office. They will then be escorted to the pantry by a church employee. There is another form to fill out once you have entered the pantry.
Pantry protocol: We ask that individuals not reach into the freezers and refrigerator. Please ask the employee who accompanied you to the pantry to retrieve items from the freezers and refrigerator.
